FAQ

WHAT IS MOCHI?

Mochi is a rice flour dough that has been steamed and pounded to give it its distinctive soft and chewy texture. We wrap a thin layer of mochi around our ice cream balls to make our Little Moons mochis.

Did you know that in Asia the distinctive glutinous texture of mochi has its own name and is know as the Q texture? Probably not, we didn't.

HOW DO I EAT IT?

With your hands, on a skewer, in a pot, with a knife and fork, a spoon, chopsticks. The world is your mochi.

IS IT GLUTEN FREE, VEGAN, HALAL AND NUT FREE?

Our mochi ice cream is gluten free.

Our mochi ice cream is not vegan.

Our mochi is alcohol free and vegetarian however it is not halal accredited.

All our mochi except hazelnut is nut free.

WHERE CAN I BUY IT?

You can find Little Moons at Waitrose, Ocado, Whole Foods, Selfridges Food Hall & As Nature Intended.

HOW MANY SHOULD I ORDER?

This is totally up to you and your capacity for balls of bliss. If we had to say we'd recommend between 2 - 3 for some instant bite sized indulgence.

WHY DO YOU ADVISE I WAIT 5 MINUTES BEFORE EATING?

Because we said so, is that not enough? But seriously, our mochi ice cream is at its best 5 minutes after you take it out of the freezer and that is because, unlike some other ice creams which can consist of up to 90% air, the higher density of our gelato means its not as soft straight out of the freezer. If you can bear to wait, your patience (and taste buds) will be rewarded with a much more intense flavour.

We recommend using these five minutes for a bit of ME TIME. Just take the time to relax doing whatever it is that relaxes you (we won't judge).

And if you can't wait, well, it still tastes delicious.
